Support » Plugin: GDPR » Cookies switch on by default

Hi, Thanks for this great plugin !

When a cookie is “always active”, the visitor can’t switch off the cookie.
But if “always active” cookie is switched off by admin, the cookie is switched off in front-end by default.
So is it possible to force by default cookies switches on (and the visitor can switch it off) ?

    Thank you 🙂

    Hi @thibauth,

It is not. Checkboxes are unchecked by default. Having checkboxes auto-checked is not enough for GDPR. It is not considerable explicit consent. Imagine I make them on by default and someone doesn’t open the settings screen, they just click on I Agree in the bar.

Then all those cookies would be allowed but that person never agreed to them.

    Hi @mrtechnique

If you wrap your cookie setting code with our helper functions, it should prevent them from being set until a user agrees to them.

If a user clicks I agree, only required consent and required cookies are set.

Users can reopen the preference center with one of our shortcodes. It creates a button that opens it.

So you could block a functionality and add a text in place with the button to ask them to review their preferences and accept whatever you need them to accept.

I gotta do some rework for V2 anyways. I’ll get started here. I hope to get something ready this week.
