cookies for comments

  • Hi,

I have a situation where my blog will not retain a commenter’s information (name, mail, website). I have version 1.5.2 installed now, but before 1.5, the site seemed to remember everything so it didn’t need to be re-entered each time.

Is this a funky cookie problem? Ideas on how to solve?

  • Anybody else having this problem?

Is the OP’s (memer) observations based on experience with several computers and browsers? It its possible that cookies are unintentionally forbidden for that site (at browser-level) or that there are multiple cookies… one for each version of WordPress (a guess), so no autocomplete can be determined?

Yes, I think it’s partly browser-related. I played around with various things yesterday and IE and Firefox are now ‘remembering’ user details. However, nothing I do will get Opera to ‘remember’.

I also re-uploaded some of the base files such as wp-comments-post.php. Whether or not this fixed the problem, I don’t know.

    Thanks for your help.
