  • Hi,

I have a question regarding Cookies.
I’m kind of lost about how they work.
As a source for my information I used:
    This link

That being said this is what I don’t get.
If I go to the URL of my loginpage I get two cookies being set.
One for the url and one for the date.

When I login and check the remember me box it get’s 3 more cookies for my login, plugins and wp-admin

Now this works. Even if I close my browser and go to the page again I’m still logged in.
    The following gets me questioned.
If I logout all my cookies are deleted except the one containing the URL.
If I want to login again it doesn’t remember me at all. No name and no password.

To be sure I didn’t F**K things up myself I used a test account with a clean install and a clean database.
I used different browsers and different versions and Mac and Windows machines.

So please can somebody clear this for me because I have no idea why I can’t get a user to be remembered.

  • Update:

I noticed that the “Remember me” function in WP is only to be sure that a user stays logged in if he only closes the browser.
However if he logges out it deletes the cookie.

I need a way like FireFox does. If a user is logged out and comes back to login he only fills in his username and the password is auto-filled for him.

Is there a way to do this?
