Today I’m noticing that the “remember me” setting is not working, and the age gate pop-up reappears on each subsequent page visited. I hoped that the update which just came out today would fix it, but no such luck. I’m seeing this in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

It appears that no cookie is being set. I do use Complianz for cookie consent management, but I deactivated it to make sure it hadn’t started to interfere with the cookie, and that didn’t make a difference.

    Thanks!

    Hi @sc333,

Could you send a link over for me to check?

    Thanks

Hi! I’ve rolled my site back to an earlier version, but I just threw together a test site, and I’m seeing the same behavior. If you say you’re over 18 and then click to another page on the site, the gate comes up again.

Amazing, thanks, I’ll have a look at it.

    Hi @sc333,

Have had a bit of a look at this, it’s not setting any cookies at all. I suspect it may be the cookie domain or ifit should be secure or not. Going to do some testing and will come back.

    Thanks

    Hi @sc333,

Done a bit more investigating, on your staging site it certainly doesn’t like the domain I’ve got. I look to set it for subdomains too, but maybe that’s a bad plan. Oddly it does work for me on subdomains, but perhaps the host disallows it.

    Will find a solution!

    Thanks,

    Hi again @sc333,

Would you mind trying this version on your staging site?

I’ve changed how I determine where to set the cookie. If it works, I’ll roll it into a release and it’ll then updated to that version on its own.

    Thanks

Looks like it works, thank you so much for tracking down the issue!

Was it simply not working on subdomains? If so, I feel a little silly- I had my site on a subdomain as I was working on it, but moved it to its own domain when it was ready to go. It’s possible this would never have been a problem for me if I hadn’t been trying to get all the kinks worked out before I moved my site over! 🤣 I’m sure others will benefit from being able to use it on subdomains, though, it’s a really useful plugin.

The thing is I run it on a subdomain for testing and it works. I think it might be because the main domain you have doesn’t resolve to anything. Could be wrong though.

This does seem the more sensible approach though and maybe I’ll add the subdomain bit as an option down the road.

Will roll out an official one in the morning

    Cheers

Thank you again so much. I’ve just updated my site to the official version (holding my breath a little…) and 3.0.4 works fine for it now that it’s at its own domain!
