convert text file w/100s of quotes to 100s posts

The text file has 100s of quotes, I’d like to import the quotes it as individual posts.

My first idea was to export my WordPress site to XML and use that as a guide to format more posts for XML import, but… it really was very long and sprawling looking at the XML export of my site.

I’m really just looking for a simple text / XML format that I can import as a series of posts. What’s the most concise format that I can use and import with a simple plugin?
