Convert shortcodes to HTML for JSON API

    I had the same need. I found that registering the shortcode with Shortcode UI renders the shortcode into the content. So, the REST API returns the shortcode markup.

    An added benefit is that the Shortcode UI (Shortcake) improves the user experience greatly.

    It’s a feature plugin, so it may end up in WP core.
