Convert main theme into a child theme

Hi guys,

I’m using the Make theme and just realized that I could create a child theme to save my style.css from reverting back whenever there’s an update to the main theme. I’m not a designer or a developer though, and so I don’t know how to transfer the changes I’ve made to my site to the child theme.

Could anyone tell me how to do so without spending too much time on the coding or design side of things? My website is http://stefgonzaga.com/

Hi Sgonzaga!
I would recommend that if you’re not into programming and such you should just download a custom css plugin. With that plugin you can just copy the custom css you want from the style.css into the plugin. Much easier if you’re just starting out.

I would recommend the “Simple Custom CSS” plugin. You just install it and activate it. Then go to Appearance, and there should be a new tab underneath it called “Custom CSS”. Just enter your css there and you’re good to go 😀

I tried the plugin, inserted some custom CSS, and it worked! Beats having to convert everything to a child theme. Thank you so much. 🙂

We also have a ready made child-theme created for Make right here in our documentation site. 🙂

It’s easy to install and if you decide to make any changes beyond just CSS, you might want to go ahead and set it up!
