  • In WP 1.02, there was an option to change the blogfilename to something besides index.php. This was located under Options>>>Base Settings. Is there a similar place to find this option in Mingus? I have looked all over the options area and have not been able to find a place to do this.
    In my 1.02 blogs, I changed the index file to index.html, because our system admin has disabled the server from displaying index.php files. If you can manually change this, what file would I tinker with?

  • If your sys admin has disabled php files, then you can not run WP. index.php is named with a such extension because it has php code, and for a server to recognize a php file from all others it HAS to have a php/php3/etc. extension (generally speaking).

    All you should need to do is change your rewrite rules in .htaccess to use index.html instead of index.php.

    forrest: my suggestions should still work. On my server I can process both php and html files but if the directory index is not set to display index.php it will not automagically run it unless specifically called. In that case I either have to add index.php to the directory index or redirect index.html to it

    I want to use the HTML AREA TOOL in my website. i can use php to change it, like storing the values in a file then rewrite the file and putting the value in the page from file. but my boss wants that all the pages should in html format. so i need a solution like this.. –
    ->the index page is index.html
    now i want edit it. so i click on edit and it will open in a php page that will contain the Text Area tool . then ill change it. and press submit.
    -> the .php will save the content and generate a new index.html page.
    is it possible. if it is then plz reply soon . help help help.

    I highly doubt that since it has to be a php page to generate its content. But, like above, you can create an index.html page which can redirect to your index.php page.

    does anyone here wnat to look at this uri in their admin panel?

    i didn’t need to convert to html, but Sushubh, thank you for pointing out that page… i needed to see that.
