    In WP 1.02, there was an option to change the blogfilename to something besides index.php. This was located under Options>>>Base Settings. Is there a similar place to find this option in Mingus? I have looked all over the options area and have not been able to find a place to do this.
    In my 1.02 blogs, I changed the index file to index.html, because our system admin has disabled the server from displaying index.php files. If you can manually change this, what file would I tinker with?

    If your sys admin has disabled php files, then you can not run WP. index.php is named with a such extension because it has php code, and for a server to recognize a php file from all others it HAS to have a php/php3/etc. extension (generally speaking).

    All you should need to do is change your rewrite rules in .htaccess to use index.html instead of index.php.

    forrest: my suggestions should still work. On my server I can process both php and html files but if the directory index is not set to display index.php it will not automagically run it unless specifically called. In that case I either have to add index.php to the directory index or redirect index.html to it

    I want to use the HTML AREA TOOL in my website. i can use php to change it, like storing the values in a file then rewrite the file and putting the value in the page from file. but my boss wants that all the pages should in html format. so i need a solution like this.. -
    ->the index page is index.html
    now i want edit it. so i click on edit and it will open in a php page that will contain the Text Area tool . then ill change it. and press submit.
    -> the .php will save the content and generate a new index.html page.
    is it possible. if it is then plz reply soon . help help help.

    I highly doubt that since it has to be a php page to generate its content. But, like above, you can create an index.html page which can redirect to your index.php page.
