 * Hey there, doing some much needed site maintenance and I was trying to update
   Ultimate Tinymce. The plugin says that Ultimate Tinymce is NOT compatible with
   the WP 3.9 and beyond. They now recommend using WP Edit. Are there any issues
   with simply updating or is there a best practice approach you would recommend?
   Thanks so much!!!!

 * Hello Prime Local,
    You’re in the right place 🙂
 * Honestly… so much has changed…
    I would suggest just ditching Ultimate Tinymce(
   use the uninstall feature under the “database” tab; so table entries are deleted
   also).
 * Then, install WP Edit… and begin familiarizing yourself with the new interface.
   Many options have remained.. but the button interface is completely new.
 * Let me know if you have any issues whatsoever.

 * Josh-
 * Thanks for the reply. I have NO issue dumping Ultimate TinyMCE (though it was
   a good little plugin for sure) my concern is what will happen to the parts of
   my existing site that are using it? Will WP Edit integrate seamlessly? Thanks!

 * Yes.. it should go seamlessly.
 * When I coded WP Edit… I took into consideration the naming conventions used by
   the different features of Ultimate Tinymce. So, since they each share the same
   naming convention… it should be seamless.
 * Of course, if you experience any issues whatsoever… just let me know; and we’ll
   knock them out together 🙂

 * I do have a couple additional questions. 1) where is the uninstall feature you
   suggested to use to remove the plugin? just curious, why not just “uninstall”
   from the plugin menu? also, if i fully remove that and then install wp-edit will
   i loose the “data” that is currently controlled by TinyMCE? thanks!!

 * No worries at all… it’s why I’m here 🙂
 * The uninstall feature is in the Ultimate Tinymce plugin; on the “Database” tab.
   You will need to “tick” a checkbox to confirm; then click the button.
 * > just curious, why not just “uninstall” from the plugin menu?
 * The reason; is because I elected to NOT have plugin settings deleted when the
   plugin is deactivated. Since troubleshooting is fairly commonplace; and the first
   step is typically to deactivate all plugins; I did not want the plugin settings
   erased in such circumstances.
 * Instead; by providing a custom uninstall button, the user can deactivate and
   reactivate the plugin all day long… and the plugin settings will NOT be affected.
 * However, when using the plugin uninstall button; then all database tables with
   settings will be cleared. It’s the “cleanest” method of removing the plugin;
   it deletes any database options used by the plugin.
 * > also, if i fully remove that and then install wp-edit will i loose the “data”
   > that is currently controlled by TinyMCE?
 * 1) You will lose the plugin settings. But, in this case, that is good. So much
   has changed in WP Edit; you’ll want to begin anew configuring your settings…
   so you are familiar with what you enable/disable.
 * I did have an “import” script… but again, so much has changed, it’s just easier
   to begin using WP Edit and set the options from scratch.
 * 2) None of the content; or anything added by Ultimate Tinymce (color changes;
   font changes; custom content; shortcodes; etc.) will NOT be affected. These are
   saved within the post content… and will not be affected when switching from Ultimate
   Tinymce to WP Edit.
 * Again, please let me know how everything goes.

 * Once WP-Edit is installed does one still need Black Studio TinyMCE Widget? Or
   is WP-Edit robust enough handle the load? That said perhaps my first question
   should have been does WP-Edit even interact with Black Studio TinyMCE Widget?
   Thanks again!!!

 * I can’t say for sure. I worked with BSTMCE when I had Ultimate Tinymce.. and
   I know they were compatible. However, I haven’t talked with them in years.
 * I would think they would be compatible. Anywhere there is a content editor using
   the “wp_editor()” function… you’ll get the WP Edit button configuration. If BSTMCE
   uses that function; they’ll be compatible.
 * There is also another option, with WP Edit Pro. It has an option available for
   creating “Snidgets” (my own term), which can be inserted in the content area
   or widget areas. More [here](http://learn.wpeditpro.com/snidgets/).
