# Controlling threads and postings

 * Inherited a site, no documentation (naturally).
    Atahualpa theme 3.7.12
 * 1) Menu includes several Pages and one Category (Newswire). Clicking Newswire
   is same as selecting that category from a dropdown list and display all posts
   with that category set.
 * Reader Settings is to show Posts as the Front Page. Posts show up on front page**
   unless Newswire category is assigned**. When that category is turned off, the
   post moves to the Front Page.
    **Where should I look to find the code that handles
   this?
 * 2) Have category Diaries & subcategory of each username (limited number of users
   is manageable). I know I can set Diaries to the default category but I want to
   default all posts by UserX to category Diaries/UserX. How?
 * 3) Various functions are allowed/prohibited based on user authority – Admin, 
   Editor, Author,etc. How/where is this info kept and how can I query it?

 * Issue 1 resolved – plugin Ultimate Category Excluder was used to prevent Newswire
   category from showing on Front Page.
 * Issues 2 & 3 still unresolved

 * Issue 2 resolved via Author Category Plugin. . Issue 3 is on the back burner 
   for now.
