[Resolved] control # of entries on archive pages

  • I’m working on a “thought for the day” site where I want only a single post, today’s, on the front page of the site.

    However, on all archive pages, I want to have many posts listed per page.

    I feel kinda silly that I can’t figure this out; is there an easy way to have only one post show on the front page of the site, but multiple posts on the archive pages?

    Thank you very much!

  • I believe I just answered my own question here.

    On the “Options -> Reading” administrative panel, I set “Show at most X Pages” to ten, so that my archives pages have up to 10 entries on them.

    Then, in index.php, just prior to the loop, I entered:

    <?php query_posts('showposts=1'); ?>
