 * Hi guys, we develop plugins and use postman SMTP a lot.
 * We have considered developing a similar plugin ourselves in the past so we could
   have the features and tweak them as needed.
 * We are now considering developing a forked version and continuing it with further
   development and support. We’re hoping to see if there is demand for this from
   existing users and any other feedback on this idea.
 * Thanks
 * Dave

 * BTW, a factual point: Postman-SMTP, now Post-SMTP, DOES contain a number of useful
   hooks. (I used one of them to create a small plugin that fixed a problem with
   it stripping the logfile attachment from Updraft Plus backup status emails.)

 * Hi [@fssbob](https://wordpress.org/support/users/fssbob/),
 * True.
    What I wrote is about a premium version. about the hooks, I will check
   and if it’s possible I will add more.

 * We are not talking about a premium version. We are talking about a free version
   supported through paid add ons to support the developer’s work and ensure the
   plugin does remain free.
 * If you have read the further responses you will see the distinct differences.

    Sorry, the right
   term is a premium model – addons are in this category for me. As I sad i don’t
   see any point talking about it in such early stage. The main focus for me is
   to update what was left behind for two years and get awarness to the new version
   of the plugin.

 * So… this is GPL’ed software. If someone decides to do another fork with a GNU
   compatible premium version/model/paid add-on version then they should feel free
   to. But the author who forked the Postman plugin ([this forked plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-smtp/))
   has repeatedly stated that he’s not interested in that.

 * It really does not matter that users want this, it doesn’t matter how you word
   it. Pro/Premium/Paid add-ons, the author of this fork has made it clear he wants
   no part of that.
 * These are not discussion forums, these are support forums for a plugin that has
   been removed from the WordPress.ORG plugin repository. This isn’t a topic for
   HERE. Please take this up somewhere else on a different site.
 * If you do start a new topic, don’t `@` the author of the new forked plugin. This
   topic is done, OK? Do feel free to fork this plugin but leave him out of it.
