I’m using Twenty Fourteen (with a simple child theme) and I’m pleased with it apart from one fairly major issue.
When I add any content to the Content Sidebar, it appears OK in Safari but not with Firefox, Chrome or on my iPad. All that shows with these is the Links Widget which appeared in the Content Sidebar when I activated the theme.
There is also a Text Widget and a Custom Menu which you will see if you use Safari but (on my MacPro at least) not on Firefox or Chrome.
Can anyone help me with this please – I’m completely baffled.
My child theme only controls text size and colour and the size and positioning of
<div>content. It also eliminates hyphens – but the issue was present before I added that.
Aha! A small light appears!
SOME (but not all) of the content appears in Firefox and Chrome when I look at my posts, so I suspect it’s a setting somewhere, but so far, I’ve not been able to find it (just as I can find no mention or settings for the mysterious Slider – I guess we’re all just expected “know” this stuff).
Hi Andy! I’m seeing your content sidebar in Firefox 26 and Chrome 31 on Mac – here’s a screenshot of Chrome, for example:
Could you let me know what version of all three browsers you’re using?
Can you tell me which specific widgets you aren’t seeing in Firefox/Chrome that you’re seeing in Safari so I can do a test on my end?
Would it be possible to upload a screenshot of what you see in Safari, and what you see in either Firefox or Chrome, to help in troubleshooting? Please include the address bar in the screenshots so I can tell what page they were taken from.
You can set up the slider under Appearance > Customize > Featured Content. Choose a tag (like “featured”) and enter it in the field there. Then, add the tag you selected to each post you’d like to be included in the featured content slider, and make sure each post has a featured image.
