 * Hi.
    I’ve upgraded my WP from 2.6.1 to 3.5.1 using a manual upgrade to 2.7 and
   then the autoupdate. After the whole update I updated my theme to the newest
   version (K2, 1.0.3).
 * I don’t know when the error happend but I can’t seem to edit the sidebar on my
   site. The sidebar appears as it did before there’s just no admin part for it.
   I guess somewhere in the upgrade a reference was lost.
 * How do you go about correcting this? I’m not the site’s original author so I’m
   not sure how it was created but right now it has a searchbar on all pages except
   the pages where we have pictures – here the sidebar has links to to different“
   galleries”.
 * The site seems to have one category which is un-categorised and 8 pages and that’s
   all I see.
 * I tried activating the default theme and then go back to the K2 theme.
 * Any advice is appreciated 🙂 Tnx!

 * You can try here for theme support, if you are using the K2 found here at wordpress,
   [http://wordpress.org/support/theme/k2](http://wordpress.org/support/theme/k2)
   but

 * tbresson:
 * It sounds like it could be a javascript problem. Disable all plugins. If that
   doesn’t correct it, switch to 2012/2011/2010 theme.

 * Thanks. I think I’ll just try and re-create it. It’s probably better.
 * The problem came with the upgrades so something went wrong somewhere but it was
   a big upgrade so it’s understandable.
 * I don’t think there’s a javascript problem, I get no errors and I don’t use any
   plugins. I’m not sure which you mean “switch to 2012/2011/2010 theme” but I guess
   it makes sense to see if I can see the missing parts with a different theme.
   I’ll try that.

 * I finally found everything I neeed to re-create the whole thing. Even with the
   original data I can’t seem to find where to edit the sidebar.

 * The sidebar content is controlled in the widget area.

 * When I look at “Looks” “Widgets” I can see Sidebar1 and Sidebar2 to the right.
   But they are empty.

 * On the dashboard, go to appearance, widgets. Then drag any widget you need into
   a sidebar.

 * Thanks! Only my site seems to have content “in the side” and I can’t see anything
   on the admin module related to editing the content. Not even in the widget area.
 * Perhaps it would help with the actual site. It’s located here: [http://www.bmk84.dk](http://www.bmk84.dk)
 * The site is in Danish but still. On the right side there’s a search bar. I have
   no idea where it comes from or how to remove it. BUT! Click on the menu “Billeder”(
   means pictures). You’ll see the right side of the content has a headline and
   also links to the different galleries. I have no idea how to edit the headline
   or the links.
 * I believe I was able to edit it a few years back but I can’t seem to find any
   clues in the admin section.

 * I would assume this is a theme problem. From your theme
 * > This theme hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained
   > or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions
   > of WordPress.
 * Try switching to the default theme to see if you can get access to the widget
   area.

 * I tried to enable to default theme and some of the other ones as well and I can’t
   see any option to edit the content in the right side.
 * Even with the old backup where we run WP 2.6.x something.
 * I guess starting over may be faster than trying to find where the site broke.
