[resolved] Container disapears if floated? (6 posts)

    Hi

I wanted to have three different tile sections for three different categories on one site, which was no problem (of course after searching a lot ;-) ). Then i wanted to have this three tiles in a row and not among themselves. But when i gave the "wp-tile-container" a float:left the whole container disapears. Do you have a solution for that?

    Thanks a lot
    kind regards

    Hi Johannes,

Can you send me a link to your site so I can check? It sounds like you need a clearfix on wp-tile-container. Try add 'clear: both' to the element after wp-tiles-container. But I can tell you more if you show me your site ;)

    Hi Mike

Thanks for your fast answer. Here is the link, its just a testsite by far

I want to have 5 tiles in a row. Like the "plain" template it does. But in the first three tiles there should be news from ONE category (ID14), the fourth has ONE category (ID2) and the last has ONE category (ID1). I thought I can do this with three wp-tiles container. After i put an extra div (width:100%) before the wp-tiles containers, they can float. But now i have problems with the tiles itself. Why are they not behaving like the "Plain" Template says? The heights and widths of the tiles are weird?

    Help would be great
    thanks a lot

    Hi Johannes,

Sorry for the late response, I have been busy.

The reason that sizes are off on your site is mainly because the tiles are switching to the small screen template. It takes the size of its container to decide if it should take the small screen template or the big screen template. Simple fix: set the small screen template size to 0 (in the WP Tiles settings screen).

However, for what you want the best approach would probably be to put a filter on the tiles themselves (in just 1 container) and performing a query that puts the right posts at the right spot, in a similar fashion as the WP Tiles menu gist.

Or, I just realized. Do you only want to show one row of tiles? If so, you might be better off using some simple css instead of WP Tiles (as WP Tiles is a bit overkill for that)..

Let me know how it works out!

    Cheers,
    Mike
