I’m using multiple locations. When I create a location, it’s creating a page for it, right? So should I be using that as my contact page for each? I’m a little confused because in Contact Details it asks me what page is the contact page.

    Hi @jodzeee,

When using multiple locations, you’ll have the contact details for each location, as well as contact details for the overall business (or HQ). This relationship between each location and a parent business is expected by Google, and so even if you don’t necessarily have a HQ I’d recommend you set up your main Business Profile as though it’s one of your locations.

    My usual recommendation is:

    – Include a complete location entry for each location.
    – Fill out your Business Profile with the headquarters location. If you don’t have a headquarters, duplicate the details of one of your locations.

For your main Business Profile, you can leave the Contact Page blank if you want (and rely on email/phone instead).

Okay, that’s helpful, but not really what I meant.

What’s confusing me is this plugin is creating a new post/page, but I already have a contact page, so why have two? Why not use the one created by the plugin as the contact page? So now I have:

    http://www.mywebsite.com/contact/location-1/
    http://www.mywebsite.com/contact/location-2/
    http://www.mywebsite.com/contact/location-3/

    as well as

    http://www.mywebsite.com/location/location-1/
    http://www.mywebsite.com/location/location-2/
    http://www.mywebsite.com/location/location-3/

Why both? Can’t I just put the contact form on the new post/page and use that?

Hope that makes more sense 🙂

    Hi @jodzeee,

I see. I’m not sure where the /contact/location-1 pages are coming from. They are not created by my plugin. My plugin only creates the /location/location-1 pages, and you should be able to add your contact form to those pages.

    Does that help?

The /contact/location-1 were pages I created myself, prior to using the plugin. I guess my question is should get rid of those pages and use the new ones /location/location-1? But if that’s the intention, then why would the plugin ask where to point to?

    Hi @jodzeee,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. In your case, you probably want to get rid of the /contact/location-1 pages. For each location, you can enter an email or phone number and leave the Contact Page option blank.

Each of these options corresponds to a type of data that Google uses to construct your business details card in search results, map listings, etc. Actual information, like phone number or email, is usually preferred to a page. But Google can use a URL as a backup in cases where a business might want to direct users to a page with a contact form or something rather than providing a specific phone or email. In cases where the contact form is on the same page as the location, this would be redundant.

So the plugin really provides the contact page as a backup. In most cases you won’t need it.
