• Hi,
I’ve just installed a contact form widget to be used in the sidebar. After I installed the plugin rather than go to the page where it asks you whether you want to activate the plugin or not I just get a white screen.
I now can’t see/access any part of the admin screen, I’ve tried logging in from a different machine, but still the same result..help!!
The site is still up, which i guess is the main thing, but how do I recover so I can see the admin area??
    I really need some help…

    Thanks

PS. I’ll post which plugin did this to my install once I can see what the plugin is called…hopefully no one else will have the same problem

  • Rename your original Plugin directory. Then create a new empty plugins directory.
If that does not help then rename your current theme’s directory.

Thanks for the advice, I tried renaming the offending plugin directory, but it didn’t make a difference.
I’ll give renaming the themes directory a go, but that would probably put me back to square one…hmmm, not sure I can face that..
Fortunately I’ve set up a daily backup, so I’m thinking of restoring the database to the day before, it means I lose a days work, but I can live with that..

The offending plugin (which I would advise not touching with a barge-pole, is WP-Contact, it’s supposed to allow you to install a contact form in the sidebar…it really, really doesn’t work!

Is there anywhere this plugin should be reported to? I’m just thankfully I’ve been a bit geeky and have a daily backup running..

Thanks Webjunk, just Ftp’d on to the server and renamed the plugins directory, and joy of joys I can now access the admin panel 😀

    Thanks for your help.
