• I’ve tried several different contact forms for my website, ( http://www.goodshark.com ) and there seems to be one big problem. I can’t receive any e-mails if the sender puts in a gmail account (or anything that uses gmail). Everything else works, it goes to my spam, but I get it.

I have no idea why its doing this. My site’s e-mail is run through gmail, so I find this problem to be extremely perplexing. And like I said, I’ve tried 3 different contact forms, the one built into my theme (Goodlayer’s Maxima, Contact Form 7 and the one from Jetpack). None of them send gmail accounts.

    Anyone able to help?

  • Have you tried using an SMTP plugin?

I have not. Would that help?

It solves a lot of mail problems for a lot of people. Or ask your hosting company – there may be something on their end.

Is there a good plug in that you would suggest for this?

I can’t get any of the SMTP plugins to work either. When I send the test e-mails, I always get an error back, and I’m using the information that they provided to fill in for the gmail accounts.

I’d suggest asking your host about this.

After some tweaking, I finally got it to work. However, a new, much more minor problem has occurred.

When I submit the form, it used to say “Message sent”, and the form would clear. Now, the messages are sending, but the ‘busy’ icon pops up next to my send button, and never goes away, even though the e-mail has already been sent and I’ve received it.

I assume this is because it’s using a different method to send, but is there a way to get that message to pop up, now that I’m using SMTP?

I really don’t know – this is way outside my knowledge, sorry. But you could ask on one of the plugin’s forums (like JetPack) – as those guys are really good.
