Contact form mail is no longer working on my website. Neither through Fast Secure Contact Form, nor with two other contact form plugins I've tried (JetPak and WP contact form). The problem must have started sometime in the past few weeks. To the form user, mail appears to be sent, but in fact it goes nowhere.
After running a test in the FS Contact Form "tools" tab, it appears there is some kind of PHP Mailer/SMTP authentication error.
So I contacted my hosting provider, who replied as follows:
A search of your account error_log entries indicate to myself and my co-workers that there is an issue with the script that Worpress is using to call sendmail. This is attempting to use arguments/flags our system does not recognize. I
included a link below to the FAQ document that explains a little more as well
as some of the error_log entries.
usage: /usr/sbin/sendmail [-f<name>] [-t] [-s<server>] [-p<port>] [-T<timeout>]
[-v] [address ...]usage: /usr/sbin/sendmail [-f<name>] [-t] [-s<server>]
[-p<port>] [-T<timeout>] [-v] [address ...]
I spoke with my co-workers regarding the issue and discovered we had a couple
other WordPress users that experienced the same issue several weeks ago, after
a background update of their WordPress plugins. Since there have been no
changes on the Modwest side in regards to the use of sendmail, I believe this
is likely the issue with your account as well. Either updating the script (or
scripts) so it no longer uses the argument/flags or reverting it to its
previous version will likely resolve the problem.
Hopefully this helps.
I am using the latest version of WP and the latest version of plugins.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? What do I need to do to fix it?
I have never modified scripts before and do not know where/how to do it!
Should I revert to an earlier version of the plugin, or an earlier version of WordPress, or both?
