Using Contact Form 7 version 4.0.3 with WordPress Zero Spam works properly. If I turn javascript off in my browser, it will not accept a contact form submission.

However, using version 4.1 of Contact Form 7, with javascript off in the browser, the form submission will go through and the contact form email will be sent (it does log that it’s spam in the spamlog, but goes through anyway).

Version 4.1 of Contact Form 7 has some info about user-validation changes that may break plugins. See their homepage http://contactform7.com/ which refers you to the 4.1 beta page and has some info about it. I don’t actually think that that particular bit of code is the problem for Zero Spam, but I didn’t look too closely..

I tried it on a few different sites … moving back to CF7 v4.0.3 made things work again. (WP Zero Spam 1.5.3)

    Thanks

  • After re-reading my post, I’m not sure it was as clear as it could be. What I was trying to say is that the brand new Contact Form 7 version 4.1 breaks the anti-comment-spam cability of WordPress Zero Spam, so WordPress Zero Spam will need a fix (or remove support for CF7 perhaps).

Also, CF7 mentions on their webite that version 4.1 is likely to break any plugins that attempt to interact with CF7 and they have provided a few lines of code as a suggested fix. I tried modifying WordPress Zero Spam to match their suggested fix, but it didn’t work (for me anyway .. maybe I did it wrong).

    Hopefully that’s more clear…

    Yup… I can confirm that!
Sadly I started getting spam again after I updated to version 4.1.
Before that Zero Spam worked perfectly fine and prevented any Spambots from sending me messages.
Also I tried to uninstall Zero Spam and it wouldn’t let me doing that… Does someone has an Idea what my mistake was? Thanks

@pandatology – I’m unable to delete WordPress Zero Spam as well and just created a new topic on it: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-delete-wordpress-zero-spam-causing-issue-with-anti-spam-plugin

This will be fixed in the next release.

    Hello!
Today installed this plugin and just got the first spam message.
Interesting thing is that it was registered in Spammer Log of WordPress Zero Spam but message was sent anyway.

Any info about the next release? How soon?

    Thanks in advance!

That was 3 months ago about a new release. It hasn’t been updated since December 2014. I moved to Gravity Forms. So far no spam from Gravity Forms with this plugin, but BuddyPress registration spam has started to get more now.

Still great plugin, but people just register and advertise their profile on BuddyPress. Sorry, if this sounds mean, but anyone found advertising their profile or email I search Google and find it on Boyscout or Cleantalk or Stop Forum Spam listed for the email registered with. I deleted there account, no questions asked.

Not going to give them even one chance to spam the website. So if this plugin gets too far behind and I end up with more of this, then I might move to another one.

I rather have no members sign up than have a lot of spam members on the website.

2.0.0 had been released which solves this issue. Please let me know if you have any more problems.
