I have activated the Contact Form 7 integration in Complianz. But nothing happened!? I cannot see a GDPR consent checkbox in my contact form, nor could I find anything in the knowledge base or forums on how to integrate this in my contact form. Is there a shortcode I need to add?

I really don’t understand what the point of a contact form 7 integration is, when nothing happens when you turn it on? When you search the web, its like this feature does not exist.

I would appreciate a little more effort in documenting this integration with contact form 7. After all, its the most important contact mailer plugin there is.

Besides the issue, the cookie side of things is very impressive. The mailer integration is very thin…

    Hi @avviano,

We will extend our integrations article with more info on this subject. Thanks for your feedback.

The integration with contact form 7 conserns the reCaptcha usage, not the checkbox. See for more information why we block reCaptcha this article:
    https://complianz.io/google-recaptcha-and-the-gdpr-a-possible-conflict/

When you enable the Recaptcha integration, the Contact Form 7 – Complianz integration will by default block Recaptcha, and add a “accept cookies to send a message” notice when a user tries to send a message.

To insert a checkbox, you can do so by adding
[acceptance cmplz-acceptance]To send this form please accept our privacy statement[/acceptance]

to your Contact Form 7 form.

Please note, that if the way a user’s data is processed is clear from the contact form, it is not necessary to add a consent checkbox (for example, on a support form, you use the email to offer support). But if you use the personal data in different ways (for example, on a support form, you add the submitted email address to a newsletter list as well, apart from giving support) is it necessary to add a consent checkbox.

    Hi Rogier,

Thank you for your super fast response! Based on your text I was able to get everything working quickly.

A thought: Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to mention the [compliance] tag in the contact form 7 integration section of your plugin. This way, it should be absolutely clear to everyone, that nothing else is necessary. I originally assumed that there might be some more complex integration; I guess I was wrong. It definitely makes sense the way it is setup right now. If you are sure that a simple contact forms does not need extra consent, then I will consider scraping it all together. I am happy to have as little GDPR as permissibly, to make user experienced as streamlined as possible.

Your article regarding Captcha integration and GDPR was very enlightening and makes total sense. I am now trying honeypot spam protection and will monitor how effective it is. One less leak to big data corporations. I believe mailster has honeypot integrated, but Contact Form 7 does not, so I installed the honeypot for contact 7 plugin. Which basically just adds a honeypot tag; very easy to setup and free.

Thanks again for your quick help!

PS: Great plugin, with real benefits to any web designer / developer!

    Cheers!
