Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 » [contact-form-7 404 "Not Found"]

  • I am using the theme, “iFeature” – but it did the same when I used “Responsive” theme.

I copied the CF7 shortcode and placed it into a text box I had placed in the sidebar widget. On my website, the subject line “contact us” shows, but instead of the form, I have “[contact-form-7 404 “Not Found”].”

I thought that maybe I needed the visual editor, Black Studio TinyMCE, so I installed/activatd that plugin – smae result – “[contact-form-7 404 “Not Found”].”

I have watched multiple Youtubes, and I am doing what I perceive them to say; however, I must be doing something wrong.

    Can you help me?

  • Same issue here, after upgrading to the latest WP version.

Include the code used in the Form section of the CF7 interface and a link to your CF7 form if possible. If others here are able to understand your actual problem, they may be able and willing to offer a possible solution.

@briefcasenl – upgrading to the latest WP version is unlikely to be an issue unless this resulted in some specific problems with your install.

    Dear Buzztone,

Thanks for your response. It is just a standard shortcode:
    [contact-form-7 id=”458″ title=”Appt Request”]

I had planned on getting the Appointment Request up on the site first, and then modifying it.

Here is a page where the form was to be:

Have I provided the info you asked for? I am extremely new with WordPress. In fact, this is my first site.

The code [contact-form-7 404 “Not Found”] is a sign that the contact form specified by the shortcode couldn’t be found. Firstly make sure you are using the correct shortcode.

If you are definitely using the correct code, then it is possible that Contact Form 7 didn’t install or update correctly on your site. Delete the plugin folder at wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/ and install the plugin again.

    Hi Buzztone,

    Thanks again for responding.

I deleted & reinstalled CF7. Same results in the widget.

If you look at this page,
You will see that while the widget can’t seem to find to find CF7, when I paste the same shortcode into the visual editor for the page, you can find CF7 under the map. I also placed Black Studio Ice TinyMCE in the right sidebar – I have labeled them for your benefit – if you don’t mind looking again.

Why would the visual editor for the page content be able to find CF7, but the widgets can’t?

Thanks, again for any insights you may have.

    same here..

contact form shown well in page content, but

    [contact-form-7 404 “Not Found”]

    in sidebar.php
