Does Contact Form 4.0 still require WP-Mail-SMTP to get emails to work properly with GoDaddy?
Something has changed in our email delivery with Contact Form 4.0 update – rather that “from WordPress” which is what we want, we are getting the name of the form user.

  • I do not use GoDaddy so I do not know if it still requires it or not.
The email help pages have been updated for 4.0, but if it works without WP Mail SMTP, then you have your answer, let me know what you find.

So you do receive the email?
    Then it is OK?

People complained when it was “from WordPress” there were way too many people saying why does it say “from WordPress”
If it shows the name of the person, that is better correct?

No – it’s not better for us – not at all.
The email is printed and becomes a case work sheet, so having the users name is a liability over the 3.0 version when it came through as From WordPress.

Sorry, I am not changing it back.
If you want the name to be From WordPress you can use the filter hook to change that.

I have a solution that involves inserting a small amount of code to your theme’s functions.php file.

Make a support ticket and I will send it to you

That’s a shame. It worked so well on the old version.

So, What is the “Going rate” for a donation for this type of code?

what ever you feel like, it is not a complex solution.

If it’s not a complex solution then I maybe it should be a selection to enable in a future version?

Is this code going to remain in place as new updates to contact form occur, or is it going to have to be re-inserted with each contact form upgrade?

I am not going to make a setting for something that only one person asked for.

It remains in place during upgrades

I do have a problem. I am trying to get a contact form on a page and I followed your instructions. [si-contact-form=’1′] was put where you said to put it. When I went to view the page an error told me some # was wrong. I am not a geek so please explain it so I understand it.

I have WP 3.6.1 and can either add a new page or add the cntact form to the existing page.

Please tell me how to do this. Also, on the screen shot there was a comment issue and I could not find it further down the page. Now what?

    Please help.

Also, I use Childishly Very Simple as a theme.

cyclesha, you posted in someone else’s topic. I cannot help you here. Please start your own new post.

    Ok,

So, I went to support. Created a ticket, Made a donation, got the code you created, replied to your last request by email and now nothing – even after several follow up emails.

If you’ve not received the email let me know, Mike. If the donation wasn’t large enough let me know that too. If there is something else I’m not aware of let me know that too…

rchris, I did try to help before. I will help you some more Saturday. I work 12 hour days, sorry.
