I am receiving “Adjustment for Order” shipping adjustment charges daily, multiple times daily, for orders completed six months ago. Something doesn’t seem right about these adjustments to begin with – but from six months ago? What is triggering these adjustments at this point in time? And why/how am I being charged when I no longer have my credit card information stored anywhere?

  • Thanks for contacting us about the USPS adjustments!

We received a large batch of USPS adjustments recently, so you’re likely seeing more adjustments at once than we would normally expect.

USPS verifies the accuracy of the information you provided when purchasing the shipping label. When inaccurate, it can result in an incorrect shipping label price which causes the adjustment. These adjustments are determined by USPS.

We have confirmed that there is a weight unit display issue in the most recent emails: the weight numbers in the recent batch of emails are indicated as being in pounds, but the unit should be ounces. So, our email showed “Reported as 1.60 lb; verified as 10.56 lb,” but that should have been displayed as “Reported as 1.60 oz; verified as 10.56 oz.” The adjustment charge from USPS is billed correctly based on the package weight measured in ounces.

We apologize for the confusion the display issue has created and will be correcting the issue in future emails.

Thank you for replying, Adam. Over the past couple of years, I’ve only received two or three of these adjustments. Over the past couple of weeks, I’m receiving them every day… Nothing had or has changed in my procedures as far as weights are concerned.

Is this going to stop on its own at some point? Am I just going to get these every day from now on? Is there just for some odd reason a late batch from June coming in now? Or is there going to be another batch for July, August, September, etcetera?

Also, I have no payment information currently in the system – but I’m still being billed. I imagine it’s using the same card that was originally billed, correct? I deleted everything assuming it was some sort of fraud. Is there any way to prevent these continuous charges? I’d prefer the USPS contact me or bill me directly.

Something doesn’t seem right about this…

My understanding is that the bulk of the backlogged adjustments have now been charged, so yeah, these should be winding down for you.

For some background, the way it used to work is that our shipping partner would send us a file every so often with the adjustments that needed charged, and we’d process that right away. However, this past summer, our shipping partner transitioned to a new method of alerting us to the adjustments.

The transition between the old system and the new was not as seamless as we would have liked, so as a result, there was a backlog of adjustments to process start in mid-to-late November. That’s why you suddenly saw so many old adjustments being processed in a short period of time.

As for the specifics of your account, that’s hard to get into here in a public forum. If you’d like more info, please send us a ticket here:

… and we can look into it.

    Thanks!

Received one yesterday as well. :p I know they have to stop eventually. But, for the record, I’m still getting them. I’ll be sure to announce when I stop receiving them.
