• It seems every time I check on the sitemap created by WordPress SEO by Yoast, I have to hold my breath, because I know it’s probably not going to be working for some reason.

Today when I checked it, I got this error:
XML Parsing Error: no element found
    Location: http://www.humortimes.com/sitemap_index.xml
    Line Number 1, Column 1: ^

So, once again, there is no sitemap available. In the past, it’s been other things that caused it not to work. It seems to be very fragile.

How can I correct this error, and make the sitemap more stable?

    Thanks.

Using XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress for now…

I’m having this same problem. I was using the Quick Cache plugin, but disabled that for now and deleted the cache. Still no sitemap is generated, same error as jamminjames.

Unfortunately, SEO by Yoast never seems to reply to support posts here. Besides this problem, many have requested, for many months now, that the pre-populated SEO Title blank on SEO by Yoast’s section for posts be editable, but there’s been no answer or even acknowledgement of this popular request.

That’s sad. The only reason I wanted to try this plugin was that it supposedly can create a sitemap of NextGen images.

For now I reverted to my ‘old’ situation: Genesis SEO, Google XML Sitemap plugin. Both are great.
