• While trying to troubleshoot another Jetpack problem, I disconnected Jetpack from my WordPress.com account and then reconnected.

I then saw an error message “We had trouble connecting. Try again,” which included a this status message “transport error – HTTP status code was not 200 (502)”.

When I clicked “Try again,” Jetpack appeared to successfully connect, and I was returned to the Jetpack settings page on my site, which displayed this message: “Your Jetpack is already connected.”

I repeated those steps, and got the same result.

  • I had the same issue the other day when I tried this. What I’m most concerned about is the fact that Jetpack is taking a hiatus on customer support and I’m not even sure if they know there’s all these issues going on with their software?

Same here. The following error when I try to reconnect one of my sites: “cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com”

Server problem at my end. Fixed.

@mbrailer: Could you provide me with a link to your site, so that I can take a look?

@andrewarthurdawson: I’ll reply to your previous thread, as I mentioned before.

@mbrailer: Thanks for the link! I had a look at your site, and Jetpack seems to be properly connected to WordPress.com at the moment. Have you managed to solve the issue by yourself?

If not, can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site? To do so, follow these steps:

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Scroll down to the bottom and click “Debug”
    3) Click the link that says “Click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in your name, email address, and the description box with a link to this thread.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

Then we’d be happy to look into this further. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

    OK, I have done this.

It occurred to me just now that this issue may stem from the fact that I changed the main domain name for my site, and I have a redirect in my .htaccess file from the former domain to the new one. Jetpack may be trying to connect at the older address, which may still be in my WordPress account.

Update: I updated my WordPress.com account profile with my website’s current domain, and this didn’t change the situation. I disconnected Jetpack, then saw the error message “transport error – HTTP status code was not 200 (502)” after trying to reconnect.

However, when I returned to my site, it was clear that Jetpack did indeed connect successfully.

I need to stress that this doesn’t cause any practical problems for me. I filed this report mainly because it might shed light on any problems others may have.

Thanks for the additional information! Could you let me know what values you have set for Site and WordPress Address under Settings > General?

    Wordpress address: http://cutetropolis.com

    Site address: http://cutetropolis.com

I had Jetpack working and disconnected momentarily . Then could not reconnect again. ‘cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: jetpack.wordpress.com’ was the error result I got.
    1. I deactivated all other plugins and same result.
    2. I switched to TwentySixteen theme and same result.
    3. I checked http://gantman.com/xmlrpc.php and it showed up.
    4. Check the .htaccess file should there be anything there. Unfortunately there was nothing.
    5. Did not check my server as I don’t know what to look for.

    @ryancowles:

In my desperation I had sent email through the JetPack contact support link last night as well as posted on forum. I was about to do as you suggested with the debug results, but thought I give it one more go at it. I connected and everything seems to be working now. I still don’t know what caused it but am super glad all is right. Thank you for responding.
