Hello, my page and setup has been working for years and I just recently saw it now resolves to a page with that error message. The website is up-to-date as are the plug-ins, any suggestions on what to do to get it back running?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Please navigate to the WordPress Plugins admin page and click the “Activate” link for the Connections Business Directory plugin. If it is not listed on the WP Plugins admin page, please follow the instructions on the following page to install and activate the plugin.

I hope this helps; please let me know.

That all looks good, it is active. There is an old CSV export plugin, too. We’ve worked together years ago. What else can I try?

Are there any messages shown on the WP Plugins admin page, at the top or on the plugin row for Connections?

Can you please attach a screenshot showing the WP Plugins admin page?

Are there any issues being reported by WP on the Site Health admin page?

all looks good, i have two screenshots but the upload isn’t working, can I email them to you?

The easiest way to share screenshots is to upload them to your media library and copy-paste the links to a reply. This way, you can delete them afterward, and the links in this support forum thread will become invalid.

    ok, adding them here:

    hmmm… ok, definitely odd…

Try editing the page, deleting the existing shortcode, and just adding[connections]. If you use the new Post Block Editor, please use the Shortcode block. If you are using the Classic Editor, please make the edits in the Text view, not the Visual view.

tried a few different ways on the existing page and made a new page, trying both new and old way. https://www.piplaonline.org/test/

Question, do you see the Connections admin pages?

    Thread Starter blueberrybayou

    (@blueberrybayou)

Yes, I see the Settings and Tools, I did a couple exports of sys info and settings, I can get those to you somehow? Or what else are you thinking?

    (@shazahm1hotmailcom)

Ok, so it seems, for some reason, the theme is not rendering the [connections] shortcode (best guess so far).

Can you upload a copy of the system info to your media library and share a link in your reply? Maybe something in it will help narrow in on the issue.

Also, could you share a screenshot of the admin edit page for the “test” page you created? That might be helpful too.

Ok, everything looks perfect. Lets try two things.

    1. Deactivate, delete Connections, and reinstall Connections. Your data and settings are safe and will not be removed. This is basically the same process that WP itself does during plugin updates. I am suggesting this in case the code that renders the shortcode is somehow missing from the plugin files.
    2. Please try the plugin and theme conflict process if the above does not work. Here are the links with the details:

deactivated and deleted, reinstalled and reactivated: no joy

deactivated all other plugins, including the Connections List View – Template, but not the Connections Business Directory: no joy

With all plugins still deactivated, changed theme to 2023: no joy (but the site went totally crazy because of the different theme)

Reverted the them back to Motif, all plugins still deactivated except the CBD, the site looks correct again but the connections database info is still not working correctly.
