# connections problem

 * Ok, I have a website that gets between 1500-3000 visits a day. Sometimes the 
   site will suddenly display the default “Error Establishing Database” for no reason.
   some times it will come back immediately, sometimes it will take some time.
 * Now i have full access to the server, another site using wp as well is unaffected
   by it. Neither is there a load with mysql.
 * Also I havent seen my site have more than 50 users on at a time. So is it possible
   that the server, is limiting the number of people to my database?
 * my.cnf displays that there are 550 connections allowed, so im not too sure of
   what to do. Is it the server that needs something else changed, or possibly something
   within my wordpress that needs to be changed?

 * Yes, you could be getting throttled (although the numbers you give seem low for
   that). Ask your host.
