    Hi All,

For sometime now my site goes down once or twice a day with an error saying it can’t connect to the database.

The way I’ve been fixing it is going into cpanel >> Databsae >> Repair the database in question… it could go down again later in the day.

If I don’t fix it the site stays down.

My Host says it could be to do with to many entrys in the wp_option table in the database.

How do I fix this ? – I’ve removed loads of plugins and now i only have 4 or 5 runnings.

When i go into phpmyadmin and view the table there is about 76000 entry’s on it.. I’m not a database person so i’ve no idea if this is high.. it seems high… but I’m not sure.

Is there something I can do ? If I start deleting things I could mess up the site as I’ve no idea what I would be deleting ( from the table I mean )

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks.

PS: While looking at the table in the DB I noted 1000’s of entry’s like this

    _transient_timeout_mom_share_twitter_2781
    _transient__wpt_most_recent_tweet_831
    _transient_timeout_mom_share_linkedin_2595

    also for facebook etc.

Would this be the share buttons on every post causing these entry’s and therefore my issue ? My site has about 7000 posts and about 30-50 get added per day. If it was these buttons causing my DB failure I could start looking it disabling them.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thanks.

7000 posts is more than average but any good host should easily be able to accommodate your site. It wouldn’t hurt to disable these buttons for a day or two just to rule them out.

    I have disabled them

But how do i remove all those entry’s ? there’s 1000’s upon 1000’s of them… clogging up the table.

You could try the following plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdbspringclean/
