Connection Information

    Hello ppl,
    My first time on the support page so appreciate your assistance.
    I installed wordpress, however when I trying to install a plugin, the connection information page appears. I check round in forums and answers and tried them all. However I am still with the connection information page, asking for the Hostname, FTP user/password. Which I gave the hostname ftp://x.x.x.x and then the ftp username and password (which work fine on other ftp clients) hence i know i am inserting the correct data.
    Once i press ‘proceed’, the wordpress page remains blank.
    I tried given access right ‘777’ to the wp-config, changed ‘DB_HOST’ to ‘localhost’ in MySQL hostname but did not work out, hence i had to revert back to the server IP address.
    As you can see I tried all the functions and even got the information of the ftp from the webhost people.
    Is there anyone who had the same problem? is it because of wrong information in the database i created? wordpress could not the ftp details? Did i inputed the wrong information?
    Your help is greatly appreciated and please ask if you need further information.
