Support » Localhost Installs » Connect to WAMP localhost to transfer over WP files

  • Hi
I am trying to upload WP files (downloaded using Duplicator) to a site on WAMP localhost However, using both FileZilla and SmartFTP I have tried all sorts but am unable to connect to the localhost. Is there something obvious I am missing. I have gone through dozens of forums here and elsewhere but I am have gone round in circles and cant get a clear idea of how to resolve the problem.
    Thanks for your help

  • I don’t think the Wamp package includes any FTP services by default – and you probably don’t actually need it. On a local Windows WampServer installation, “copy and paste” into the /www/yoursitename directory is usually much more efficient.

If you’re really committed to getting an FTP server running for a local development box: “how to” ftp and wampserver (Link goes to Google)

    Thanks very much
I’ll check out the link. The reason I wanted to try the FTP is that I had manually transferred and extracted the Duplicator installer.php and archive zip file over to my wamp directory but each time at the end of the installer process I always get an error message or alternatively I am unable to login with my existing login details. On a previous thread below (relating to ‘all-in-one migrate’ plugin)after the upload I was able to open the users table of my WAMP database and enter a new user name and password but after uploading the Duplicator zipfile there is no users table. Any ideas? Thanks again
