Connect an existing WP site to a new MU

    Hello,

    I was curious if it’s possible to connect an existing WP site to a new MU site with the same domain.

    i.e., I started a site called subdomain.example.com, but then realized I wanted to create a network of sites for example.com, with subdomain.example.com as a part of the network.

    So can I connect subdomain.example.com to example.com via WPMU? If so, how?

    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Not really.

    You’d want to make newdomain.example.com in WP Multisite, export from oldsubdomain.example.com and import into newsubdomain. Then delete oldsubdomain and rename newsubdomain to oldsubdomain.

    The length of your subdomain names MUST be the same!!!

    If you have foobar.example.com, DO NOT try to use newfoobar, it will BREAK.

    How do I import content, plugins, and theme to a new subdomain?

    Will everything on the oldsubdomain be intact when i do import to the newsubdomain and rename it to the oldsubdomain?

    Read http://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Export_Screen

    You’ll export, then import, then configure the newsubdomain to look and feel right. oldsubdomain will be up and running and left alone until your delete it (or rename its folder).
