Hello,

What’s the difference between those 2 menus please?

– General > Webmaster Tools > Google verification code:
(Get your Google verification code in Google Search Console.)

– Search Console > Settings > Enter your Google Authorization Code and press the Authenticate button.

Are those 2 different codes or the same one I get at the search console when registering a new site in order to verify ownership?

If not, what’s he purpose of the second one?

The code you enter under SEO>General>Webmaster Tools>Google Verification Code is the code that Google uses to verify ownership of a site that you added in Google Search Console.

The authorization code that you enter under Search Console>Settings is an authorization code that permits the Yoast SEO plugin and your site connect and retrieve crawl errors from Google Search Console. However, the Search Console feature of the plugin is no longer able to connect to Google Search Console and retrieve crawl errors due to Google discontinuing the API which made it possible.You can read more about this here: https://yoast.com/where-did-my-search-console-errors-go/
