# Confusing instructions

 * I used the ones that were presented first, that outlined back up of the data 
   base and key files, then upload the new WP files, and finally browse to [http://your.isp.com/wordpressfolder/wp-admin/upgrade.php](http://your.isp.com/wordpressfolder/wp-admin/upgrade.php)
 * So far so good, I go back and reactivate my plugins – all it fine, and it says
   V2.0.6
 * THEN I find totally different instructions for updating which include deleteing
   directories, and says NOTHING about running upgrade.php
 * So which is it?
 * I reminded of a comedy skit where one guy tries to defuse a bomb and the other
   on reads the directions to do it…
 * “Now cut the green wire”
 * *snip*
 * “But first….”
 * *Yelling and running away…*

 * It seems the fault is my own. I skimmed over the first paragraph ([http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress))
   which does have a link specifically for updating FROM 2.0.5 to 2.0.6
 * So, now that I’ve made a total foole of myself, Have I done any harm by following
   the other instructions? Should I now re-upgrade or am I covered? (The site [http://www.assaiki.com](http://www.assaiki.com)
   seems to work fine)

 * No you’re good. Also, running upgrade.php, though not necessary for 2.0.5 to 
   2.0.6, should do you no harm.

 * Phew… Good – words like “Security update” always make me nervous, good to know
   I made the update.
