Support » Fixing WordPress » Confused on how to Give WordPress it's own Directory

  • Please excuse me for being such a newbie, I’m getting very confused and I don’t want to keep trying things that could make the problem worse.
I uploaded my site and then when I went to the site, received the following warning:

Warning: require(/home/trail/public_html/wp-includes/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/trail/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 19

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/trail/public_html/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/trail/public_html/wp-settings.php on line 19

I started researching this and came across the instructions to Give WordPress it’s own Directory as a solution.

I went into the General panel and changed the URL to my web address and site address: http://example .com/wordpress and (example = my domain name)

Now I’m stuck and not understanding the instructions. Could someone tell me how to set up a new location for the files. I don’t understand where to put them or what to name this new location. Is this even what I need to do to solve this problem? If anyone can explain in a little more layman’s terms I’d really appreciate it!

I tried going into phpmyadmin to change back the addresses but there are no tables in my database.
    Thank you so much!!
