    Hi!

I’ve been having a strange problem over the past few days. There is a caching conflict between Advanced Ads (which I’ve been using for a few years, and it’s an AWESOME plugin, thank you!) and WP Super Cache. I’ve got ads set up to display on desktop only or mobile only using the Visitor Conditions setting.

However, there’s a problem. If I have WP Super Cache activated (and I’ve been using it for years as well), and the page is first cached on mobile, then the desktop version shows the mobile ads (with the placements within content, etc), and if the page is first cached on desktop, then the mobile version shows desktop ads.

I’ve had to disable WP Super Cache to get the ads to work right. Any help?

    Hi zrosgnl,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I’ve had to disable WP Super Cache to get the ads to work right.

The short answer is yes. The whole one is explained in this manual and involves pro features from Advanced Ads to work on cached websites.

If you are interested in purchasing Advanced Ads Pro and have further questions, please reach out directly to our customer support.

    Best regards,

Thanks! However, I’m confused because this worked just fine until a few days ago. What changed? I’d be very happy to purchase an Advanced Ads Pro license, but I’m slightly confused.

    Hi zrosgnl,

    thanks for the feedback.

Can you reproduce the working behavior by rolling back versions from Advanced Ads or WP Super cache?

I am not aware of any changes causing the seen behavior and would be more than happy to look into this more closely.

    Best regards,
    Henning

Unfortunately, I don’t have the option to roll back versions. I’ll try Advanced Ads Pro, and hopefully the Cache Busting option will work, but I feel like I’m being forced to pay for functionality that worked just fine.

    Hi zrosgnl,

Thanks for the feedback and also for purchasing Advanced Ads Pro.

I am not aware of any changes within the plugin that would cause the reported behavior. Dynamic conditions like the user device detection would always need the Cache Busting feature to work on cached websites.

If you can provide a setup or a stage of configuration from Advanced Ads and WP Super Cache versions where I can reproduce the working conditions without Cache Busting I would be more than happy to look into this more closely.

Since this support request is now also involving paid add-ons I suggest we continue this thread in our customer support. I will add any further solutions and findings also here.

Until then, I’m looking forward to your reply over there.

    Best regards,
    Henning
