Support » Plugin: Post Types Order » Conflict with WordPress Gallery Image Drag and Drop

This plugin breaks WordPress Gallery drag and drop functionality. When Post Types Order is enabled, if you edit a WordPress image gallery, drag and drop to reorder the images, hit Update Gallery, the new order is not preserved. When I deactivated the plugin the gallery functionality works again.

Can you make sure you use the latest plugin version? This has been fixed about a year ago.

    Hi!
    First of all, great plugin!

I’m pretty sure that my problem is related to Beth’s. I do have the latest version.

I also did drag-and-drop editing of a media gallery while editing a page. I saved the edits, and it displays in the correct order on the front end of the site. But when I go back to the page to edit again, the gallery is displayed in the original order! So to edit again now would be really confusing.

First I tried changing Post Types Order settings. I guessed that the query part might be involved, but unchecking that did nothing. I tried changing other settings, too, but no luck.

So I simply disabled Post Types Order, and my gallery is working as expected again, the order is always right. I hope this helps.

    Hi,
I was going to give you a login. But I’ve decided against it for now. I have a gallery page that has over 40 photos in it that will be seen by many, so I don’t want to risk messing up the gallery order right now.

I can pass along some circumstances:

    • I installed your plugin and re-sorted a very few Custom Post Types, not regular Posts.
    • I edited a Page, adding a lot of photos, 40+, via the regular post editor. I saved it, and it was fine.
    • Later on I went back into the Page and its gallery. I used drag-and-drop to sort the photos, and saved them. The new order displayed correctly on the site
    • I went into the Page again later to put in some Captions. But all the photos were shown in the previous order(!), so I didn’t touch them! (btw, the page looked fine on the front end, in the newer order)
    • I disabled Post Types Order, and then when I went to edit the page, they were in the same order as on the front end, just as expected.

    Thanks, Dave
