Support » Plugin: Easy Heads Up Bar » Conflict With Timeline Express

  • Hello,

    Great plugin.

Just wanted to report a conflict with Timeline Express.

ISSUE: Timeline express provides a code snippet to modify the date picker and date display used on each announcement in its Timeline. The modification results in the display of TWO date pickers after modifying the code per the tutorial. The modification is necessary so we can select date / time to organize many announcements on the same date.

    *****************************************

    Our developer reports:
I’ve finally tracked down the date/time issue. There was a conflict with another plugin Easy Heads Up Bar which was using the same framework (CMB2), but a different JS library than the one included by default (both named jQuery Timepicker to make things extra clear! 🙂

    ********************************

Thought you might want to be aware of this conflict in the event there is any change you might incorporate in an update that would eliminate it.

I am also reporting the conflict to the author of Timeline Express.

Hopefully an update to one or both with allow these excellent plugins to coexist happily.

    Thanks.

Thanks, @soobahkdo for letting me know.
I am hoping to get some time to work on this pet project of mine (Easy Heads Up Bar) I am considering offloading the CMB to the CMB2 plugin as a required supporting install. Not sure how happy the users will be if they miss the message to install the plugin but I feel that now this is an option it’s probably the best way to go.

    Hello Greenweb,

If it helps motivate you 🙂 your plugin is my go to among nearly a dozen I have tried.

I like that your plugin allows insertion of the shortcodes of other plugins in the message area because that makes it SUPER, SUPER versatile. We can display countdown timers, or just about anything we want. Most message bars do not provide that degree of flexibility.

So thanks for an excellent plugin that really works well for us on many sites across a number of MS networks.

    Hi @greenweb,

It looks like you are using an older version of CMB in Easy Heads Up Bar. In Timeline Express we have bundled CMB2, which most likely conflicts with older versions of CMB (you have 1.2.0 bundled with your plugin).

I believe if we both load CMB2 the class is smart enough to only initialize once, and should no longer conflict with each other. But that would also entail updating the metabox functions to work with CMB2.

Thanks, Code Parrots (@codeparrots) I am aware of that and address it right here 😉

Just saw rest of your post – yup I agree – that’s the best solution.
