[Resolved] conflict with sharing plugins

  • hi
    i am having an issue with this awesome slider script picking up a bit of text from my sharing plugins (i’ve tried a few different sharing plugins, happens with all of them) and inserting it into the “excerpt” when i have it showing.

    eg. This is the excerpt text. Shows up just fine, and looks great, and then i see this —> Share:Tweet

    any suggestions how i get rid of that?

    WordPress has a filter called ‘the_excerpt’, which is referenced here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API/Filter_Reference.

    Basically, your sharing plugins are probably hooking into this to add their content. You can remove individual filters, if you know what they are, with remove_filter(). You can also remove all of the filters using remove_all_filters().

    If you don’t want any filters applied to the excerpts for the promotions, you can do something like this:

    if( get_post_type($post->ID) == 'ps_promotion' ){
        remove_all_filters('the_excerpt');
    }

    It is very likely that you could also hide the extra content via css. Most plugins will wrap their extra content in an html element so they can style it. All you need is the class name and you can do something like this:

    .promo_slider_excerpt .classname { display:none; }
