    Hello,

On my website & theme, there is a page preloader animation.

When clicking on a download link, a new page is opened with the preloader, and the file is downloaded.

But the preloader screen stays there, and there is no back button. So you are stuck on the page with the preloader animation. An F5 refresh of the page shows you the page contents again. Not user-friendly.

How to avoid that this preloader is called for downloads. Why a new page is opened in the first place?

    Thanks,

    Didier.

    Hey Didier,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Are you using the “Redirect to file” option for a download? If yes, please disable that and upload the file using our plugin.

    Hi Harish,

Nop, I am using default settings, so the “redirect to file” is not enabled for my download.

I am using the “x-sendfile” header option however.

    Any other idea ?

    Thanks,

    Didier.

    Hey Didier,

Can you please disable the header and test again?

    Hello,

I disabled the x-sendfile header, and no change. A new page is still opened with the preloader, and the file gets downloaded.

But the preloader page still remains.

If I disable the preloader on my page, I get no new page of course.

Question: why download monitor is opening a new html page when downloading a file?

    Thanks,

    Didier.

    Hey Didier,

Please share a link where you have listed the download links so we can test this further.

    Hi Harish,

Currently, I have no public download links with the preloader, as I am using a popup window for now.

So I am not able to provide a demo for you.

What strange is, is that I have another website with another preloader image (+other theme framework), and here the download link does not open a new window. The download starts immediately. So the preloader feature of one website has another mechanism.

If you have a solution for this preloader thing, let me know.

    Many thanks!

    Didier.

    Hey Didier,

I regret to say without testing it, it’s hard for me to guess a solution. If it’s working well in one website then there must be some issue / conflict with some plugin in the website where it’s not working.

Sure, I understand. We can close this ticket for the time being.

    Thanks for your support,

    Didier.
