The background problem: NextGEN Gallery does not upload to the Media Library and can not use images from the Media Library. Images must be uploaded independently – it is the only gallery plugin that I have encountered that requires this. Therefore, I presume the images are stored somewhere other than the Media Library.

The issue: I currently have some galleries created with NextGEN Gallery for basic straight-line galleries. I use Huge IT for more sophisticated galleries. However, when I create a gallery in Huge IT, and select images which have also been uploaded via NextGEN Gallery (because my client wants to reuse those same images for a different purpose), BOTH images are selected, so I have duplicate images in the Huge IT Gallery AND I don’t know which image comes from where – the Media Library or NextGEN Gallery’s storage folder. Even if I deactivate NextGEN Gallery, the issue remains. Somehow, even though NextGEN Gallery does not use the Media Library, there is a tie-in to the Media Library. NOTE: This does not occur with Huge-IT Portfolio Gallery

  • Hello
Dear user our plugin doesn’t use NextGen gallery, we only use Media Library.
So all images can be uploaded only from there.
So what is the problem with uploading images from media gallery?

I know you don’t use NextGen Gallery. However, NextGen Gallery does not use Media Gallery. Therefore, I have duplicate images in NextGen Gallery because I want to use them with both NextGen Gallery and Huge IT Gallery.

When I select an image from the Media Gallery to use in a Huge IT Gallery, if a duplicate file of that image is also in NextGen Gallery, Huge IT Gallery pulls both of those images into the Huge IT Gallery.

Therefore, somehow, Huge IT Gallery is mining images from the NextGen Gallery.

Dear maybe the duplicate effect appears because of a conflict between nextgen and our plugin.
Actually we met that problem and as I know nextgen and our products always have conflicts.
We fixed that kind of conflicts many times. So please if you contact our developers info@huge-it.com with this issue
