There is a conflict with iThemes Security plugin in the admin area, when I go on page edit screen and click on Nextgen Gallery Edit button. When Nextgen Gallery window pops up chrome dev console is full of errors and when I go on Manage Galleries tab, iframe which loads galleries flashes few times, console starts to load another sets of errors and after second or two it stops with message Request-URI Too Long.

WordPress version and all plugins are the latest, 5.2.4 , Nextgen Gallery is 3.2.18 and ithemes Security is 7.4.1.

If I turn of iThemes Security it works ok.

Is there any fix to this problem? Could you work with iThemes Security team to solve this? What should I do next?

    Hi @drago239,

We couldn’t replicate any conflicts between NextGen Gallery and iThemes Security plugins. Can you please confirm that you are using the latest version of both?

Also, please try with just NextGen Gallery and iThemes Security plugins active to see if the issue will persist in your case.

    Hi,

thanks for your quick response. Yes, I’m using latest versions of both and latest version of wordpress. This happened after update, before was ok. I also tried with all plugins deactivated (except those two, of course) and twentynineteen theme. I also tried this on wampserver and on vagrant vvv.

I’m a little short on time right now, but what I can think of next is to try to remove completely all plugins and themes that are not necessary. And to try this on fresh installation. But as you say that you can’t replicate, I suppose that things would work with fresh installation.

    Hi again,

I tried this on fresh wordpress installation with only nextgen and ithemes plugins installed and with latest versions of everything, wordpress and plugins. And it’s the same thing. I tried this on vagrant vvv on windows.

If you want I can put somewhere or send you chrome console log, there’s a lots of javascript errors.

    Hi @drago239

Another thing that you may be interested to check is to temporarily deactivate one by one the modules from iThemes Security to see if this will change anything in your case.

It may worth trying to setup a brand new staging site instead of starting to remove the plugins from the live one. Here I need to mention that there are plugins that are doing direct changes to the main site’s configuration files such as .htaaccess and wp-config.php and these changes will persist even if removing the plugins so testing on a staging server will be more relevant in your case.
