Ditty News Ticker does not work with AMP.
My site upgraded WordPress and Astra Theme this week, and I added the AMP plugin. A number of problems resulted, and most have now been resolved.

One unresolved problem is that the Ditty News Ticker does not work with AMP activated. Are there any know solutions or work-arounds to this?

In the meantime, I have disabled AMP (and Ditty News is working fine)

I did a little testing with this as I’ve never used AMP. From my testing it seems that it’ll be impossible to use AMP with Ditty News Ticker (and really any other plugins that require javascript to run).

“AMP doesn’t allow <script> tags, other than <script type=”application/json”> (like in amp-bind). So this plugin will remove enqueued JavaScript files on AMP pages.” (https://amp-wp.org/documentation/playbooks/enqueuing-scripts-and-using-amp-bind/)

It seems the only alternative to including script tags on a page is to modify sites to only use inline javascript and add custom AMP bits of code to create similar functionality… This is just not possible with the amount of javascript needed.

If you really want to use AMP you could use the transitional AMP option to only redirect mobile users to the AMP version of your pages. You could then have the ticker running on desktop at least (but not mobile).

    Thanks metaphorcreations,

Yes, it looks like a hard conflict with AMP. At this time, I like the function & value that Ditty News, MetaSlider, and a couple other plugins I’m using bring to the site vs, the unquantified value of AMP. Therefore, I have chosen to leave AMP deactivated.
