 * OK, so you’ve got a rookie here… I try to run the initial setup after downloading
   the software and get and error page that I’m not connected to internet, or have
   passwords wrong. Any help for Configuration 101 Basic Course? Thanks

 * open up the config-sample.php file, and change the values of database/username/
   password. Then save the file as config.php and upload it in the same location
   where your config-sample.php file is. then run the install.php file. It’s really
   as simple as the instructions that it comes with state it as.

 * OK – I’m going to try that again. I must have a wrong value in there somewhere,
   as I created the config file. Thanks for the comment. JK

 * I can’t seem to get this… Where it say’s “local host” do I need to change that?
   if you go to [http://www.jerrykatz.cc](http://www.jerrykatz.cc) you’ll see what
   I’m getting. I’m feeling pretty stupid by now…

 * localhost is typically what you’ll want to leave it is

 * I’ve only changed the three things stated in the config file… Could I have it
   at the wrong place on the server? I noticed the file was sitting at the root,
   but the instructions say to launch from the wp-admin folder. I tried to load
   it there and still nothing? Thanks for putting up with dumb questions…

 * I’m really struggling here… Look at [http://www.jerrykatz.cc](http://www.jerrykatz.cc)–
   I thought I loaded to the root via ftp, is something in the wrong place, cause
   I feel I’ve got the config file correct…

 * if you want WP installed in the root, then your wp-config file should be in the
   root directory. Are you sure that you have your database name, username, pw correct?
   Do you have phpmyadmin? If so log into the database and check inside to find
   out the name of the database that you have.

 * I’m hosting with Go Daddy and the db name, username and password all look correct.
   I’ve just fired off an email to their support to have them check and see if I’m
   really at the root. I may have it in the wrong folder. Thanks much for the help
   this evening. I’ll hack away at it again tomorrow night.

 * take a look at this thread:
 * [http://wordpress.org/support/topic.php?id=28754](http://wordpress.org/support/topic.php?id=28754)
 * as it seems to be having a similar problem at first glance with Go Daddy as their
   host.
