No this plugin does not interfere with anything. You should name the plugins that you are using to try to create a video sitemap and be aware how they work.

Do they pull URL’s form posts? This wont work bc no URLs are used.
Do they maybe look for post with post type = video to generate something?

I can only speculate … have you asked the Authors of this Plugins about this?

    Hi Nico

thanks for the reply. I’m using this google video site map plugin.
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/xml-sitemaps-for-videos/

It seems that the sitemap plugin above doesn’t handle “custom post” types (at least according to the many users who have encountered the same problem as i have). i’m fairly new to wordpress, does your plugin handle videos as a custom type post? I’m not really clear on what constitutes a custom post.

Also I noticed there’s a “change shortcode tag” section in the admin section of your plugin. Apparently this is to resolve any conflicts with other plugins. I use YouTube for all my video embeds on my site. Are there any settings I should change here?

    thanks in advance

ps: here’s a post from my site to give you an idea.

    That plugin states:

Your Video Sitemap will includes web pages which embed videos from YouTube or which links to videos on YouTube. If a YouTube video that you have in your blog has been removed from YouTube, the record in the Sitemap file will be ignored by Googlebot.

So the plugin detects embeds codes (HTML) in posts and links (not shortcodes). This means all you have to do is to link to the youtube videos in your posts (in addition to shortcodes from this plugin) and it should work.

And no you do not need to change any shortcode tag because there is no conflict.

Thanks NIco that’s precisely what I’ve started doing as of last week. Thankfully I only launched my site at the beginning of September so it wasn’t too much of a problem to go back into the posts and link them to YouTube (usually within the first 1-2 sentences).

Really appreciate the prompt reply and help.

    cheers

I bumped into the same problem, but the solution is easy. Thanks guys for sharing the solution.
