I run a site where the total number of sidebars is a pain. We have 23 countries that participate in our program and each has a profile page. On that profile page there is a sidebar with links to posts about that country. This necessitates 23 different sidebars, which is… aggravating.

Would it be possible in your plugin to add a third tab under “Get Posts From” for “Dynamic from Page/Post?”

It could have the same choices as taxonomies and tags, except rather than setting the Category or Tag to display manually, it would pull it from whatever page/post it is on. In categories, you might even be able to give a choice of “current categories”, “parents” or “grandparents” to accommodate what DaveE was trying to do: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/can-i-show-only-posts-that-share-the-currently-viewed-page-taxonomy?replies=2

This would be hugely useful functionality to me, and I’d be willing to bet that there are others out there who would find it useful.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for your inquiry. I think you’d best be served by the same answer I provided in the link you mentioned (DaveE is me after all.)

I don’t foresee creating that kind of functionality within FPW but you’d be welcome to fork the plugin and add that functionality yourself. There are many different scenarios that such functionality would need to accommodate and to me it feels like more of a separate widget/plugin that the post type & tax/term functionality provided by FPW.

Sorry I can’t be of more help on this one.
