• Hi,

Is there anyone who is using the Conditional CAPTCHA plugin and after updating to WP 5.5 or 5.5.1, this plugin broke down or caused issues with the site, or everything kept working without any problem?

  • It didn’t cause issues with my sites but spam protection no longer works.

    Hi Samir Shah,

Please update the plugin to work with WP 5.5. It is a very good plugin.

    Thanks.

So like you guys, I just upgraded to WordPress 5.5 and not sure why but Conditional CAPTCHA has stopped working…

Huge bummer as all the bad comments are getting through now and my Spam folder fills up every day!

@solarissmoke – could you please fix this great plugin so that it works with WP 5.5? Otherwise it doesn’t have a future, which would be awful! It has saved me so much time over the past 8 years…

PS – On the main plugin page, we can support the author:

Update: I got tired of wading through so many SPAM comments. I really missed this plugin!

So I decided to see if I could figure out what went wrong in WordPress 5.5 and fix the plugin…

And, success! Here is the fix:

It’s a very simple one-line tweak. The plugin broke because of a questionable change the WP team made.

So happy now. Conditional CAPTCHA now works perfectly again, and filters out all the garbage from ever being seen. Whew!
