Hello,

I have a multi vendor site with thousands of product images. This may be slowing down my site and would like to know if this plugin will help with page speed tools/GTmetrics?

Will the compression create a new image file but comprised? or just edit the existing image?

I hope you’re doing great!

The main purpose of Smush is to help serve optimised images to increase the scores on services such as PageSpeed Insights and GTMetrix.

Smush works by creating optimised copies and thumbnails of the original images. If original images are set to also be optimised, we keep a copy so you can revert at any time.

I’d suggest to take a look at our extensive documentation on how to use Smush to optimise your site:

You will find hints how to deal with specific recommendations using the features provided by Smush.
