Support » Plugin: Elementor Page Builder » completely useless in IE

  • Resolved airmuseumnet

I spent all weekend building what I thought was a beautiful site. But then I tested it in IE11 and Edge and what a mess. Background colors missing, text is misaligned, font colors ignored, button styles ignored and widths ignored.

Yes, I know most people (developers) don’t use IE but most corporations do. How could Elementor completely ignore this browser?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

When I look at your site in Edge all looks just fine?
Did you clear all cache and then have a look?

I have 50+ sites with Elementor and they all look fine in all browsers even in IE.
look at one of my sites in IE11:

    Displays correctly right?
There most be something else going on at your end, not sure what at this point.

Ofcourse E11 is replaced by Edge some time ago and only recieves urgent safety updates.
It is almost no longer used:
It looks distorted in E11 over here, but only your homepage in IE11 the other pages look fine in IE11 too.

There is something funny going on with the url’s by the way.
When i click on a menu tab this is the url:

That index.php should not be in there?
    It should lool like this:

Is this in a testfolder of maybe?

The actual url goes to what seems to be another site?

Thanks all. Yes, this is a test site in a sub folder. I tried on two PC on separate networks and was seeing the same weirdness on both in IE and Edge.

I shut off all plugins and have been reactivating them one by one. So far so good. Still trying to find the culprit.

Also not sure why that URL is funky. Thanks for pointing it out.

As for IE, I hate it too 🙂 But sadly, most of the large companies I have worked for still use it. Some even make it the only browser their users can use. I suspect that it’s easier to control from the IT security point of view.

Yes, but your page should not look that distorted even in IE11.
I have 50+ sites and they look just fine in IE11.

What happened when you deactivated all other plugins except elementor?
I see you are using the Astra theme.

Please switch for testing to OceanWP and see if the issue is gone.
Please also go to WordPress settings tab>Permalinks
Make sure “post name” is checked and save twice.

That might do the trick for the funky url unless you did something funky when installing the testfolder to begin with?

Hey! I just looked at the url and it now looks great in IE11 too!
    Funky url is gone too.

    Found the culprit yet?

So this sounds like it wasn’t Elementor as you first thought. I love Elementor and WordPress but considering all the major changes in the past few months, I don’t know how all the plugins can possible keep up with the Guttenberg updates. WordPress is the base and one minor change in WordPress can easily cause incompatibility issues with any other plug in. That is why I have put off updating versions. Security Issue vs. Site Crashing, not good choices.
